FOG DOESN'T STOP THE FIRST WINTER ALLIANCE!!

On Monday 2 November 32 ladies representing 16 Warwickshire clubs played in the first Winter Alliance of the 2015/16 series at Edgbaston Golf Club. Thick fog was the big problem and once the bunker on the first hole was visible, play began. Fog persisted throughout the morning however play was possible and did not stop our hardy Warwickshire golfers. The course was in excellent condition with the greens slower than they have been due to heavy rain at the end of last week.
Liz MOVERLEY and Jane JONES of Copt Heath were the winners with an excellent score of 34 points. Jenny ARNOLD and Claire CORDERY-CAMPBELL of Coventry Golf Club were second on count back with 33 points from Beverley COLEMAN and Deborah PEARMAN of The Warwickshire.
Karen Hearn said a few words at the prize presentation in this her last golfing function as Warwickshire Captain. She thanked Jane Betts of Edgbaston for her help, Julie Ward, Edgbaston Captain and John Anstey the starter and of course Edgbaston Golf Club for hosting this event.
We hope for more clubs participating at the next Alliance which will be at Maxstoke Park on Monday 7 December.
