LADBROOK PAIR WIN DECEMBER ALLIANCE
After the days of rain and wind it was a pleasure for the pairings in the December Winter Alliance to play in sunshine and warmth - yes warmth on this December day. Indeed at times, some players were seen in their shirtsleeves!!!!
Maxstoke Park was the venue on Monday 7th December and some 22 pairs from Warwickshire Clubs played in this, the second Alliance of this Winter. It might have been warm playing but underfoot the going was quite difficult not to mention heavy. However scores from at least half the field in this Greensome Stableford format were over 30 points, so some obviously found it quite easy to score.
Winning the December Alliance was the pairing from Ladbrook Park Golf Club, Margaret PEARCE and Penny SINGLETON who scored a magnificent 37 points, with Jane FRITH and Elizabeth JARVIE from Olton Golf Club coming in 2nd with 35 points, on countback from Issy BARTRAM and Linda JORDAN from Harborne Golf Club.
Margaret SHEEPY, Warwickshire County Captain presented the prizes in this, the first event of her two year office of Captain. She thanked Maxstoke Park GC for hosting the event and particular thanks were given to Maxstoke Lady Captain, Jenny CURLEY together with members Marie SWINDELLS and Sheila CARDWELL, who had contributed so well to make this event a success.
Trisha WELLER, the Winter Alliance Organiser asked the players if they could encourage their Club Captains to get the entries for the January Alliance in as soon as possible, reminding them that they could send their entries for January, February and March 2016 in one go if they preferred.
