LOCAL KNOWLEDGE PROVES BENEFICIAL IN FINAL WINTER ALLIANCE

The final Winter Alliance of the current series was held on Friday 4th March at Henley Golf & Country Club
Despite heavy overnight rain and early frost the greens staff had worked hard to enable the competition to be played on the full course. The players benefitted from early sunshine in the cold wind but cloud soon bubbled making it less pleasant out on the course so hot drinks were very welcome at the end of the round.
Local knowledge prevailed with Betty DAY & Barbara JONES of Henley Golf & Country Club winning the Greensome Stableford with 36 points. Second, on count back, were Jenny ARNOLD & Gill SAKER from Coventry Golf Club, pipping Sally BEVINS & Lesley JAMES of Robin Hood Golf Club, both teams scoring 34 points.
The players were welcomed by the Ladies’ Captain Linda WHITE who presented the prizes after thanks were given by President, Jane DENNICK to all officials for their work running the competition.
