FIRST WINTER ALLIANCE GOES TO ROBIN HOOD

Today was not typical of a November day that most of us remember!! The sun shone very brightly for most of the day but it had got steadily colder when the later competitors handed their cards in. Monday 7th November was the first of the Winter Alliance series with the venue being Edgbaston Golf Club and with the usual format of Greensomes Stableford. With the course still playing so well, if the players could stay on the fairway, they would have had a more enjoyable time as there were many leaves gathered in the rough!
First two scores recorded today held the lead until the last card was received and as often happens in competitions, the last players came in with the winning score, with a magnificent 41 points. Home players Tricia SADIQ and Janet VAKIL, first outh this morning, eventually came in 2nd with the winners coming from Robin Hood GC - Sue BUTLER and Peta POYNTON.
At the Prize Presentation, Vice Captain Janet VAKIL welcomed everyone belatedly to Edgbaston GC and hoped that all had enjoyed the course.
In response, County President Jane DENNICK thanked Edgbaston GC for hosting the event and also the many helpers from Edgbaston that had made the competition run so smoothly.
