Warwickshire Golf

 

The ladies were well wrapped as they faced the challenging undulations of Atherstone Golf Club on Monday February 13th for the latest Winter Alliance. It was gloriously sunny all day but a chilly breeze was blowing! However the welcome we received was warm, and despite concerns that the course would be shortened, the full 18 was made available to us.

 

The ladies faced the tricky blind holes and ball finding exercise with good humour and many rewarded themselves with delicious soup on their return to the club house.

 

First out, the Shirley pair of Penny DAWSON and Carol BLACKBURN led the field for much of the afternoon but they were pipped by Dianne CORLESS and Elizabeth JARVIE from Olton before the end of the day. 

 

19 clubs were represented and £49 was raised for the County Girls Fund. Atherstone Lady Captain, Noreen WIGHTMAN welcomed us - she had also valiantly marked the 'odd' pair - and County President, Caroline LASSEN awarded the prizes.
