In this the last Winter Alliance of the 2016/17 season, the venue was West Midlands Golf Club with the Competition being held on Monday 6th March. Some 38 players competed with the usual format of Greensomes Stableford in operation.
Was this the first day of Spring as the weather was just perfect for playing but certainly waterproof trousers and sturdy golf shoes were the order of the day as underfoot it was very treacherous after all the recent rain. There will certainly be some washing taking place tonight!! The greens though were very good albeit quite tricky and we wondered what scores would be registered in these quite difficult playing conditions. It was quite fun watching players on the Par 3, 18th hole with some excellent 'Barnes Wallace' shots being played.
Quite tight at the top of the leader board, the Winners and Runners Up both scored 31 points, which in the conditions was deemed to be quite a good score. On Countback the Winners were Glenda LORAM and Barbara WOOLLEY from Maxstoke Park Golf Club from Beverly COLEMAN and Marian WOOD from The Warwickshire Golf & Country Club. Well played to both teams.
