WARWICKSHIRE SENIORS SUFFER LOSS AT SHIRLEY
Warwickshire Seniors saw their unbeaten run against other Counties come to an end yesterday, albeit by the narrowest of margins, when losing to Lincolnshire at Shirley Golf Club, just outside of Solihull.
Warwickshire suffered their first defeat in four matches and their first time in losing to Lincolnshire since a defeat at Sleaford Golf Club in 2014. The East Coast County led by 1 point at lunchtime but with the afternoon fourballs being shared with two wins, two halves and two defeats apiece, Warwickshire came up just short.
The course was immaculately presented with the fairways running fast and the tricky greens giving most players something to think about. The weather was fine for the most part but the two heavy showers in the afternoon which saw players running for cover and donning their waterproofs, had little effect in slowing the course or greens down.
The hospitality at Shirley was first class as always and congratulations to Lincolnshire on their win.
We now need to refocus all our energies quickly for our second match this week when we travel to play Worcestershire on Thursday.
