The second running of the Bronze Division Team competition took place at Stratford Oaks GC today, 14th July. This event is open to all clubs affiliated to Warwickshire County Ladies Golf Association and today there were some 18 clubs participating. The format for the day is that four players chosen from the Bronze Division in each club, played with other club members in a Stableford competition. When the results were compiled, the top three scores out the four submitted from each club were included in the final points score, to give the outright winning Team.
The day dawned fine, not too warm but as the day wore on, the breeze got a little stronger. Many players had not played the course prior to the event but you would not have thought that as the scoring was so good! The atmosphere was excellent and many new acquaintances were made, with many players staying for the Prize Presentation.
In the Team event, The Warwickshire GC came in with early points' scores of 42, 39, 38 and 36 and sat at the top of the Leader Board for the remainder of the day! Fancy the score of 36 points having to be dropped!! A fantastic Team effort with a total number of points of 119.
In the Individual Winner's Trophy prize, this went to Mary PARFITT from Ladbrook Park GC with an eye watering 46 points - guess her handicap will be reduced very soon!!
Nearest the Pin prize went to Jen LAVERY Walmley GC)
Longest Drive prize went to Sally IEVERS (Edgbaston GC)
At the Prize Presentation, after a late welcome was given from Stratford Oaks Vice Captain, Irene ALLEN, the County Captain Margaret SHEEPY thanked Irene and the Lady Captain together with all the helpers from the Club who had made the day so successful.
