After three days of sunshine imagine how disappointed our players were to see that it had rained overnight and was also very misty and damp during the morning of Monday 16th September for the Joyce Nichol Trophy Competition. However with play commencing off 2 tees at 12.30 p.m. the weather remained dry throughout the afternoon, although underfoot it was quite wet especially if retrieving balls that had strayed into the rough!! The course at Robin Hood Golf Club had been prepared beautifully and was looking at it's best and surely we were in for a feast of high point scoring in this Stableford format. Competitors were playing for the joy of having their signatures added to the Copper Salvers should they be winners of either the Silver Division or Bronze Division and everyone set out enthusiastically.
Having completed their round, players as is usual for County competitions read out their scores to be entered into the computer, with some being less than pleased to be reminded of the trouble they had experienced in their own round!! However as is usual in these events there were some good scores, with Mary FRAISE of Harborne GC coming in first with 36 points - well done Mary.
All in and Robin Hood Lady Captain Jenny KENTISH gave a belated welcome to all, hoping that everyone had enjoyed their day at Robin Hood, both on and off the course. Responding, Anne PARRY, County President thanked Jenny and her colleagues for their help in staging this event and gave particular thanks to Robin Hood for agreeing to host the event. Some £90 had been collected via the Ball Sweep which will go towards the County Junior Girls. Prize Presentation then took place with Jenny KENTISH presenting the prizes:
