DECEMBER ALLIANCE WIN FOR LEAMINGTON PAIRING

Once again a very warm welcome was given to the ladies for the second Winter Alliance of the season at Henley Golf Club on Saturday 8th December 2012. 22 Clubs took part and were able to play in glorious sunshine. Although the course had endured some very wet weather during the week before, it stood up well for the Competition thanks to Pete Doyle the Henley green keeper.
Lady Captain of Henley, Gill Clayton, welcomed the new County President, Mary Hampton, past County President, Elizabeth Earnshaw, who registered the Competition results online, and all of the ladies. Mary thanked Henley Golf Club for hosting the event. She also thanked Gill, Georgina, Sue and Linda for their help with the registration, ball sweep and merchandising.
The winners on the day were Carolyn TALBOTand Kath HOWELL from Leamington & County Golf Club with an amazing 42 points in this Greensome Stableford format. Runners up were Rahela GORDON and Debbie NAYLOR from Harborne Golf Club whose 41 points was also an excellent score . Several teams were not very far behind with scoring in the high thirties.
A special thank you to Graham Waller, Club Manager, for all of his help before and on the day, he couldn’t have been more accommodating, also thanks to the catering staff for looking after everyone throughout the day.
Due to the generosity of the ladies buying raffle tickets the ball sweep raised £44.00 for the County Coaching Fund.
The next Alliance is to be held at Whitefields Golf Club on Saturday 12th January and then at Shirley Golf Club on the Monday 4th February and finally at Atherstone Golf Club on the Monday 4th March, we look forward to receiving entries for these competitions.
