The ladies and staff at Shirley Golf Club provided a warm welcome to the competitors and thanks to the hard work of Shirley Golf Club’s greens staff, the fourth County Winter Alliance went ahead in cold but sunny conditions. Again 44 ladies from 22 Clubs took part and were pleased to be able to play with many of their own courses being closed due to the wet weather.
Lady Captain Jane Southall welcomed County Captain, Bobbi Waugh, past County President, Elizabeth Earnshaw, as well as all of the competitors. Bobbi then thanked Trisha Harris, Office Manager of Shirley for making all of the arrangements so that the Competition could go ahead. She also thanked the Club Professional, Stuart Bottrill, and his staff and Kevin and Jane who catered all day for the ladies - the minestrone soup was especially welcomed
Bobbi then went on to thank the Shirley ladies Val Barker, Betty Davidson, Jan Moore and Kath Hobbs for their help on the desk, selling ball sweep tickets and merchandise. She also thanked Linda Gumery who braved the very cold weather to act as starter. The ball sweep raised a wonderful total of £82.00 to go towards County coaching.
Lady Captain, Jane Southall (pictured) presented the prizes, with first place going to Gill THORPE & Jane DENNICK from Leamington & County with 34 points. Second place went to Mary UPSON & Sarah WYNN from Moor Hall with 33 points. Henley, Maxstoke and Whitefields ladies all came in with 31 points.
The next and final Winter Alliance, will be at Atherstone Golf Club on Monday 4th March.
