In the penultimate Warwickshire Ladies Competition of 2013, the ladies competed for the Joyce Nichol Trophies which are awared to winners of both Silver and Bronze Divisions. The Competition was played on Friday 27th September at Stratford Oaks Golf Club in stunning late September sunshine.
Stratford Oaks course was in excellent condition with the greens running quite speedily with fairways quite lush. Forty eight ladies competed on the day in this Singles Stableford format. Scoring looked to be quite difficult from the early cards deposited, but as mostly happens in these events, the latter starters posted the higher scores.
Prior to the Prize Presentation, Stratford Oaks, Ladies Captain welcomed all the players to the club and hoped that they had enjoyed the course and facilities of the club. Warwickshire Lady President, Mary HAMPTON then presented the prizes.
SILVER DIVISION WINNERS
1st Irene LANGLEY (Marriott Forest of Arden G & CC) 40 points
2nd Glenda LORAM (Maxstoke Park GC) 38 points
3rd Martine GILKS (Leamington & County GC) 35 points
BRONZE DIVISION WINNERS
1st Linda PLANT (Moor Hall GC) 36 points
2nd Joy WELLAN (Sttratford-upon-Avon GC) 34 points
3rd Val STENE (Kenilworth GC) 33 points
In addition, a 2's competition was run and there were only 3 winners: Jen GRIMSTON - 8th, Glenda LORAM and Anne GLOSTER - both on 6th.
Irene LANGLEY must enjoy having her name engraved on this Trophy as she was also the winner in 2012 ans she stated that she would be going for 3 in a row next year!
