STRATFORD LADIES WIN TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

The ladies team from Stratford-upon- Avon Golf Club scooped both Gross and Net prizes in the Team Championship played on Monday 1st September which was held on their home course.
Twenty one teams of 5 ladies took part in this Championship at Stratford , playing from both 1st and 10th tees in morning and afternoon sessions. The morning players had some constant light rain during their round whilst the afternoon players had some splendid sunshine after a dubious start and the course was playing long.
The help given by the ladies from Stratford was magnificent, ably led by their Lady Captain Linda Edgington - they had thought of everything and the day could not have run without their assistance.
The best Net score of the day was achieved by Mandy Newey of Stratford GC, which a Net 72. Indeed the top three Net scores cMe from Stratford ladies, with Paula Winwood and Skye Furnace scoring 73 and 74 respectively.
The winners of the Chipman Cup for the best Gross combined score with an aggregate score of 423 were Stratford-upon-Avon (Annabel EDMOND, Skye FURNACE, Mandy NEWEY, Yvette NUNN and Paula WINWOOD. Presentation of the Daisy Hartill Trophy for the best Net with an aggregate score of 378 also went to the same team from Stratford GC.
Under the competition rules, if a Club wins both the Gross and Net Trophies, then they take the Gross vouchers and the Net vouchers are given to the 2nd Net team who were Nuneaton GC with a Net 393 - Marsha BUTTON, Di McCormick, Rachel RUSTED, Sandra THACKER and Peta VINCENT.
